A Senior Woman’s Favorite Healthy Eating and Drinking Products

Updated 2/28/2025 IN PROGRESS

Remember to put this phrase in if I’m earning affiliate income. As of 2/28/2025, I am not. Once I’ve got a habit of creating these pages, I’ll apply again.

One of my main goals is to eat and drink healthfully. What does that mean exactly, eating and drinking healthfully? As far as eating goes, it means

1) When I eat. I recently got Invisaligns, and you can’t eat with the aligners on, and you should keep your aligners on for 22 hours, so that gives me two hours to eat. I’m a slow eater, so I have figured out I need to eat during that 2 hour window. It’s like the One Meal a Day protocol (OMAD ), but not to lose weight. I don’t like to work out after eating, and I don’t like eating too late, so it ends up around the 10 am to noon range. This is only on weekdays. Since my husband and I want to go out for breakfast and lunch on the weekends, that schedule goes out the window. But we like to finish eating on the weekend by 4 pm, and I eat twice a day.

2) The composition of what I eat. During the weekdays, part one of my meal is a veggie, protein, and something crunchy salty, and part two is yogurt with fruit, granola, and candied ginger. This satisfies my salty, crunchy, and sweet tastes. I don’t limit the amount or type of fat I eat. On weekends, it’s a free-for-all, and I have a beer. I probably shouldn’t be doing two days of free for alls, but I’m trying to be not too indulgent!

As far as drinking, I try to limit my sugar, and will rely on stevia.

Here’s a summary of a tool, drinks I use, and a general idea of what I eat.

Air Fryer: B096N3FTZP & B01M06ATV8

Drinks: B00D1DP00S (True Lemon), B0711F8BKW (True Lemon), B084HQ4DYQ (LMNT), B01CM4JEKI (Laird Creamer), B00P0ZLRMA (himalayian salt), B00F3SQJUY (stevia), (coffee), home brewed kombucha, 8 greens, drinkmate accessories.

Eats:

1) Veggie: cucumber and celery

2) Fat: avocado or avocado oil

3) Protein: 4 oz of 80/20 ground beef, Italian sweet sausage, fake seafood salad, deep fried chicken tenders, or chicken wings.

4) 4 oz of home-made greek yogurt, 4 oz of fruit, 1 oz of granola, 1 T crystalized ginger

Here is one tool for eating healthfully. You’re not frying in oil, so that’s a great reason to use an air fryer. I only use an air fryer for chicken wings or leftover french fries (what???). I like doing chicken wings in the oven. The air fryer is too small, you’ve got to do a few batches, and each batch takes a good 15 minutes.

Air Fryer: My sister was looking at this one because it was America’s Test Kitchen (ATK) winner:

B096N3FTZP

I bought this air fryer, and I’m happy with it. It was ATK’s Best Buy:

B01M06ATV8

I aim to drink 2 quarts of liquid daily, focusing on low sugar. I follow Pahla B (https://getyourgoal.com/) and she recommends half your weight (in lbs) in ounces. I weigh 126, so I’m supposed to drink 63 oz of liquid daily, just under 2 quarts. I also like sparkling drinks, so I use the Drinkmate to sparklize my drinks. I have 2 quart bottles, and mix 1 LMNT and 1 True Lemon, and fill to 16 oz, sparklize, and I have another 1 quart bottle to sparklize water, then I fill the flavored bottles with that water, so that I have 2 quarts on the ready to drink. The SodaStream will gunk up if you sparklize non-water drinks, so I switched to DrinkMate.

After working out, I drink my coffee. I live near Seattle and I’m NOT a coffee snob. I get the cheapest coffee (caffeine), and I add collagen (muscle flexibility), Himalayan sea salt (counteracts bitterness), and coconut creamer.

I brew my kombucha and drink it for the probiotics. I also drink 8 Greens to make sure I get all my veggies.

Here is what I drink daily:

St Patrick’s Day This Friday!

“As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.”

Oh no, I’ve been procrastinating the start of being an Amazon Associate. Once I decided to retire, this was the one thing I really wanted to pursue. I knew there was an end date, but was hoping I’d have some time to get those 3 qualifying sales. Here’s my go, wish me luck!

Music Improves My Mood

I’ve been listening to many personal development audios in my free time. I’ve realized I need to balance learning with fun. I was getting too serious. I was getting a bit depressed.

It probably didn’t help that the weather sucked, freezing temps, dark, wet, the antithesis of weather I love.

Christmas Eve, I wanted to make apple pie but also wanted an apple crisp, and voila, I found a recipe that combines the two, Apple Pie Crisp! While making the pie/crisp I cranked You Tube Music, and I was singing and dancing the time away. I do love to cook, and I haven’t taken the time to do that for the past years so it could be the combo of cooking and music. That’s when I realized I was out of balance.

I like to work out in my Wocave (woman’s cave) every morning, especially rebounding with San Fran Fitness. Another balancing act; I need to balance between cardio and weights. I had been using San Fran Fitness’ weight workouts, but I want a change in pace, so I went back to Anabolic Aliens 30-Day Body Weight Workouts, but there’s no music. With the San Fran Fitness workouts, they use their original music, which I really love. So I need to alternate between the two programs to get my music fix.

Why Are Chiropractors Hated?

I have no idea!

I know people have had bad experiences and tagged that as “chiropractors are bad”. But could it be the practitioner?

Are chiropractors quacks? Are they a doctor?

I was skeptical when I first went to a chiropractor, and I let her know. Since then, I have had ups (mostly) and downs, but isn’t that life?

I just came back from my chiropractor and we were talking about the bad rap chiropractors have and he told me about a court case of a chiropractor against the AMA . I honestly have not read this article, but I’ll comment some more on this topic when I do.

If you are in the Issaquah, WA area and are in need of a chiropractor, check out Terry Cottrell.

What has your experience been with chiropractors?
